Shadow Puppets

Develop characters and stories to make a play using a prepared shadow theatre.

The workshops will introduce participants to ideas of character development and identity as well as traditional forms of shadow puppetry such as the ornately decorated puppets from Java, Indonesia. The participants will devise their own characters and then bring them to life using a prepared shadow theatre.

The stories could be based on traditional stories or on issue based topics.

These sessions could be combined with either the Gamelan music or music composition workshops to create a piece for performance.
